MBA, short for Master of Business Administration, is a postgraduate degree offered by the colleges affiliated to the universities. So, only universities can offer MBA programmes.
On the other hand, PGDM, which stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Management is a diploma course offered by the institutes that are recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and which are autonomous and not affiliated to any university.
Fees is high in case of PGDM as compared to MBA. MBA colleges generally charge less fees because of its similarity to university standard.
There are many similarities between the curriculum of both these courses, but differences exist as well. While an MBA course tends to be more theoretical, a PGDM focuses on the technical aspects, providing exposure to real-life business situations.
Also, as PGDM course is offered by autonomous institutes, its curriculum can be upgraded more frequently to include the new changes and trends in business management.
